About our Online Locksmith Training!
Cornwall and Devon Locksmith Training and Taylors Locksmith Training Academy created the UK's first online locksmith training course in 2013 to be used as part of the main courses. The online locksmith training program known as the "Locksmith Training Portal" was designed to help locksmiths who would be attending a in person course. It would allow the new locksmith to learn from home all about the foundation in locksmithing or what was once called an apprenticeship in locksmithing. This foundation is the LFA1.
Pre Course Training!
With all of our courses we include the LFA1 award. Its a pre-course training award that allows up to 4 weeks of pre education to an apprentice level of education and gets you course ready before your hands-on training practical in person locksmith course.
The online pre course known as the LFA1 is a video based course where you watch and learn, answer simple questions to test your understanding on things like common terms used for parts, tools to the actual tools, types of locks and lock parts and much more!
This is undertake at your own home via your own computer.
On Site Hands on Locksmith Training
Once you have undertaken the LFA1 and your now ready to put hand son tools, we will have you visit one of our training sites and then for 5 to 7 or 14 days, you will train with a LTTA certified Guild of Master Locksmith instructor. That's hands on, from using jigs on wooden doors to fit mortice locks to attacking failed UPVC deadlocked doors to manually hand picking high security locks. Its the most in-depth training you will find in the UK and this is why kits backed up with a pre-training LFA1 program, then the hands on section then the aftercare course or what we like to call the competency training course. Together all 3 combine, preventing skill fade. Meaning you retain all of the information taught.
Competency Training!
Once you have joined us in Newquay Cornwall at the lock lab in person for your hand son course and completed each hands on section you will then enrol onto our final course, the competency program. This is where you can re-study every single topic in full detail and make sure you fully understand how to to do everything taught to you on the hand son section.
In this part of the training program, its all about practice, demonstrating to yourself and your instructor that you are showing competency and a increased level of skill.
By the time you have undertaken all 3 parts of this course you will have been training as a locksmith for around 10 to 15 weeks.
If you have a business package then you will move into the business section and learn how to operate a locksmith business in the UK or around the world.
